TORAH BRIGHT WINS OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL
Australia has now claimed its fourth ever Winter Olympic Gold Medal with Cooma born Torah Bright winning the Womens Olympic Halfpipe Final
Crashing on her first run Torah put it together on her final opportunity in a big way scoring 45 out of a possible 50
The judges awarded Torah the top score for her amplitude and technicality on the five hit run. First hit was a backside 360 into her trademark switch backside 720 followed by a backside 540, a tailgrab to fakie and finishing with a Cab 720.
(Perisher has just announced it will name it's halfpipe after Golden girl Torah like it did with Bronze medal downhill skier Zali Steggall at Blue Cow.)
In second place taking silver was Hannah Teter from the USA with 42.4. Hannah won gold in 2006 at Torino but didn't have the tricks to match Torah.
Third place went to Torah's biggest opposition in that of US rider Kelly Clark who couldn't put down a run as clean as she did in qualifications and finished with 42.2.
Fellow Aussie Holly Crawford qualified for the finals finishing first in the Semis and ended up in 8th place overall with a score of 30.3. Holly went all out in the final throwing down a huge frontside 900 on her first hit.She knew she had to put it all on the line to make it onto the podium and showed amazing determination and vigour. Great effort from Holly, big congrats to both of our Aussie girls!
