Ben Mates to feature at Wests Tigers NRL round one match at the Sydney Football Stadium
Ben Mates has returned from the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games after an impressive career best result of a semi final appearance resulting in 17th place overall in the Men’s Snowboard Halfpipe competition.
Ben is not only a world class Snowboarder but a fanatical Wests Tigers fan. On returning from Vancouver the Wests Tigers invited Ben to become involved in the club as an honorary member to support the team throughout the season.
This has seen Ben spend time with the Wests Tigers players during their members only training day last Saturday. Ben will also be a special guest at the Tigers opening match against Manly on Monday 15th March at the Sydney Football Stadium where he will attend the corporate dinner with girlfriend Alison.
Ben along with Cheltzie Lee, the young 16 year-old Australian Olympic Figure Skater will be a feature of the half time entertainment. Both Ben and Cheltzie will be introduced to the crowd and interviewed about their Olympic experience and their loyalty to the Wests Tigers. Both will be presented with a Wests Tigers jersey as recognition of their passionate support for the club.
This is a dream come true for Ben who has supported the Wests Tigers his whole life and a symbol of the Wests Tigers interest and encouragement of these gifted Australian athletes.

Winter Olympians Ben Mates and Cheltzie Lee are passionate Wests Tigers supporters and are the club’s special guests for the round one blockbuster against Manly.
Mates returned from the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games after an impressive career best result of a semi final appearance, resulting in a 17th place overall in the Men’s Snowboard Halfpipe competition.
On returning from Vancouver, Mates ‘Stepped Up’ to become a Wests Tigers Member and attended the Members Only training session at Concord Oval last Saturday.
Cheltzie Lee, the 16-year-old Australian Olympic Figure Skater, loves her Wests Tigers and will be a guest with her family at the game.
Ben and Cheltzie will be introduced to the crowd as part of the pre-game entertainment.
Wests Tigers is proud to support these gifted Australian athletes and welcome them to the club.
